You know how the saying goes… New Year, New You. We’ve all made plans and promises to better ourselves, but far too often, the New Year’s Resolutions we create at the end of December don’t last long into January. Sometimes we are a bit too hard on ourselves, or sometimes the goals we make are too lofty and possibly out of reach.
We live in a go-go-go society, where everyone craves immediate results and improvements — but if you want real change, this mindset is unrealistic. If you truly want to make changes to lead a happy and healthy life, you’ve got to put in the work and not expect to see results overnight.
At Tunie’s, we are all about living a healthy lifestyle. To help you say see ya to 2020, here are some of our best wellness tips to help you start 2021 fresh and healthy.
Find Enjoyable Ways to Manage Stress
Stress and anxiety can do a lot more damage than you think — and needless to say, 2020 was particularly stressful.
If you aren’t able to manage it well, stress can affect both your physical and mental health, so this year, make a point to find time each day to simply decompress. When you feel yourself starting to stress out, figure out small things you can do to calm yourself down in the moment. Everyone has their own stress relievers. For some, it’s going for a run or swimming in the ocean. For others, it’s a day at the spa or cooking at home. Find what works best for you, and incorporate those activities into your daily lifestyle.

Restore Your Gut Health
A healthy gut is key to a healthy lifestyle. One of our favorite ways to maintain gut health is by taking a daily probiotic. It can have a positive impact on everything from digestion to skin health to immune function. Additionally, you should ensure you get enough fiber in your diet. Not sure how? Pack your plate with a heaping pile of fiber-rich veggies at every meal. Not only will this help you reach the daily recommended amount of fiber, but it’s a simple way to make sure you are eating healthy in the new year.
Apple cider vinegar is also known to help with digestion and bloating, as well as our overall immune health. We recommend mixing a teaspoon of ACV with a glass of water every morning in order to get optimal results. Additionally, just having that daily glass of water is great for general health. Rehydrating the body first thing in the morning is good for the skin and can provide a good boost of energy to get the day started.
Tunie’s Tip: Pretty soon, we will have an organic juice bar located within our store so you’ll be able to get your fill of veggies and more. More details to come!
Make the Switch to Non-Toxic Products
What you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body. We pay so much attention to making sure we are eating healthy food — why shouldn’t we also make sure we are using healthy products? Conventional cleaning, beauty, and skincare products are filled with chemicals that are harmful to our health. Luckily, there are plenty of healthier alternatives on the market now that allow us to easily make the switch to a non-toxic, chemical-free lifestyle. Not only is this safer for us, but it’s safer for the environment as well.

Break a Sweat
Starting a new exercise regimen is usually the first thing on everyone’s New Year’s Resolution list — and for those who aren’t already into fitness or who can’t find the motivation to keep it going, it’s also usually the first resolution to go out the door.
If you are one of those people who join a gym at the beginning of every year, only to find yourself losing interest a few months later, make 2021 the year you stick to the plan! Aim to get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day, even if that means just going for a brisk walk. According to Healthline, exercise can improve hormone levels, lower blood sugar and insulin levels, improve cholesterol, and reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and other kinds of chronic disease.
Make sure you are logging enough hours of sleep each night too, so you can wake up feeling fully rested and ready to go get your sweat on!
Tunie’s Tip: If the idea of joining a gym makes you nervous, there are plenty of other ways to get in a good sweat session. Since the beginning of the pandemic, many gyms and fitness trainers started offering workouts online, and there are countless apps available as well.
The Tunie’s team can’t wait to share more wellness tips with you in 2021. We wish you all a happy, healthy New Year!
