Tunie’s Makes Cents

Making a Difference Together

As a locally owned business, Tunie’s believes strongly in giving back to the local South Florida Community. The “Tunie’s Makes Cents” program enables Tunie’s and their customers to work together to support many important and deserving causes in our area at no cost to our customers. Tunie’s has created an easy program for you to help give back to causes and organizations that mean the most to you and also promote sustainability.

Tunies-Makes-CentsHere’s how it works:

  • Bring your reusable shopping tote into any Tunie’s location
  • For each reusable shopping bag used during your visit, Tunie’s will gives a token with a value .05 cents
  • At the front of each store you’ll find a display featuring the four charities Tunie’s is currently supporting
  • Simply choose the cause that most resonates with you and drop your token in the appropriate box
  • At the end of each quarter, Tunie’s will donate the value of all tokens received to that particular cause

Don’t have a bag? Ours are made from recycled plastic and cost just a $1,
with 100% of those proceeds also donated to community causes.

Tunie’s is proud to support the following local South Florida charities

Catopia is a 501c3 not for profit Cat Rescue organization based in South Florida. We are a network of cat lovers and volunteers with an unyielding desire to help the helpless cats and kittens of our community. The majority of cats that enter our re-homing and rescue program were found as strays, in shelters where they would otherwise face euthanasia, and others have been surrendered by private individuals who can no longer care for them.

Our mission is to save the lives of as many abandoned, injured, neglected and/or otherwise unwanted cats and kittens as possible. All cats and kittens are fully vetted, fed healthy diets and accommodated in a 100% foster care environment until they each find loving forever homes. We additionally help with the feral cat population through a TNR (trap, neuter, return) program and the rescue and rehabilitation of feral born kittens. Thus, allowing kittens to be adopted into loving families.

Thank you for helping support the innocent lives that depend on us!

GMO Free Florida (#GMOFFL) is a grassroots organization that has been educating and organizing about the issue of GMOs since 2010. Our goal is to get mandatory labeling of GMOs and eventually ban the release of all GMOs into the environment.

GMOFFL has upwards of 15,000 subscribers and works with many Florida organizations to help gather signatures to label GMOs in Florida. These signatures and efforts from our group members played a major role in influencing Representatives and Senators to sponsor and co-sponsor bills in the Florida House and Senate to label GMOs. These bills have been introduced in 2013-2015.

In combination with our groups and various organizations, we have helped organize events with over 10,000 people marching across Florida. We also create community events, speaking engagements, marches, rallies, film nights, pot lucks, support our local agriculture and farmers, and meet with elected officials.
